Lusben is Close to Finishing the Transformation of the Sofia 3 Yacht

The interior of Yacht Sofia 3 is currently being refitted at the Lusben Shipyard.

The highly elegant Sofia 3 yacht is presently in the concluding phases of an extensive refit at the famed Lusben shipyard in Italy. Although the structural and mechanical improvements that the owner ordered are finalized, the yacht is now navigating through the interior-fitting stage, edging nearer to its grand unveiling.

Baglietto first handed Sofia 3 over in 2007, and she has undergone substantial changes since then, making three trips to the yard based in Viareggio. The 140-foot (42.75-meter) ship first came in 2018 for a stern extension and the incorporation of a fold-out transformer platform. After sailing in U.S. territories, she was brought back to Lusben in 2022 for more improvement works, with her seven-month sojourn extended to allow for more updates.

The most recent trip was marked by several changes, which involved rearranging the deck to establish a fresh seating zone and setting up new teak on the sun deck. The owners also asked for renovations in specific structural areas to deal with corrosion and water leakage, resulting in the substitution of the yacht’s steel hull and aluminum superstructure’s metal plates. The mechanical systems received updates, and most of the windows were substituted, giving Sofia 3 an elegant look with its new grey paint.

After Lusben’s technical launch at sea, the emphasis has now moved to the interior. Design studio La Mandragola from Viareggio has been enlisted per the owners’ request to provide their skills. However, specific details are still being kept confidential.

Lusben is well-acquainted with complicated refits, as they have prior experience working on distinguished yachts like the Maltese Falcon for a lengthy spell of six months.
