Cantieri di Pisa Begins Construction of Custom 40-Meter Yacht with Luxardo Design

Cantieri di Pisa has formally initiated the construction of a 40-meter fully-custom yacht at its shipyard located in Pisa. This significant occasion was celebrated with a traditional coin ceremony, which was attended by the yacht’s French owner and representatives from the shipyard, in accordance with maritime traditions that date back to Roman times.

Tailored Design and Configuration

The yacht’s design, created by Antonio Luxardo, incorporates a steel hull combined with an aluminum and composite superstructure. This four-deck craft is specifically designed for charter use and features a distinctive layout for its size, boasting six guest cabins in addition to six crew cabins. The owner’s suite, complete with a private terrace, is situated on the main deck, while the lower deck includes four guest cabins and a VIP cabin. Crew accommodations are found on the bridge deck.

Onboard amenities comprise two salons, several lounging spaces, and a Jacuzzi located at the rear. A fully-equipped galley and ample storage options facilitate long-distance cruising and charter capabilities.

Engineering and Performance

This vessel is designed with a sub-500 GT volume and is powered by twin MAN V12 engines, each providing 1,550 horsepower. This setup is projected to achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots and a cruising range of 2,000 nautical miles. The vessel will feature a lateral-launch garage capable of storing a 6.6-meter tender alongside water toys.

The naval architecture and engineering were crafted by Studio Sa.Ma.Re Design, with input from Luxardo and Optima Design. The construction employs vacuum-bonded composite materials to minimize structural weight and enhance performance. The yacht is set to receive certification under the Bureau Veritas Charter class standards.

Shipyard Heritage and Project Vision

Founded in 1945 along the Arno River, Cantieri di Pisa is renowned for its planing motoryachts, including the Akhir and Kitalpha lines designed by Pierluigi Spadolini. Since 2021, the shipyard has been under the stewardship of Enrico Gennasio. This latest endeavor exemplifies the yard’s ongoing commitment to blending its iconic design features, such as the distinctive black and white air intakes, with customized client requirements.

The 40-meter yacht is slated for delivery in 2025 and is presently under construction at Cantieri di Pisa’s facility in Pisa, Italy.
