Celebrating its 150th year, Lürssen has introduced Cosmos, a 114-meter hybrid megayacht featuring cutting-edge green technology and robust engineering. This yacht is distinguished by its pair of 500 kW methanol fuel cells, which enable journeys without emissions for up to 1,000 nautical miles and allow the vessel to remain anchored with zero emissions for up to 15 days.
Hybrid Drive and Ice-Class Strength
Cosmos was custom-built for a private owner, utilizing a steel hull reinforced to meet Ice Class 1D standards. This enhancement makes possible safe voyages in polar waters as well as major sea routes. The megayacht’s hybrid drive fuses methanol-powered hydrogen fuel cells with conventional diesel generators and engines, offering both eco-friendly and traditional cruising choices. This setup enables zero-emissions movement at lower speeds, with the versatility to switch to higher velocities whenever needed.

Designed by Marc Newson, Cosmos boasts an 18-meter beam and a gross tonnage of 6,300, distributed over six decks.
